The purpose of the Nevada Athletic Trainers Association (NEV-ATA) web-site is to provide any person with information and resources regarding the latest state, regional and national news regarding health care and the Athletic Trainer. It is our goal to provide up to date information for Nevadans concerning athletic training clinical practice, links to Nevada's Legislative requirements and educational opportunities for Athletic Trainers living and working in Nevada.

You MUST have your Nevada State Athletic Training License to practice Athletic Training in our state. To review the practice act NRS 640B regarding licensure for practicing Athletic Training visit: http://www.nevadaathletictrainers.nv.gov/

Certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are unique health care providers who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses that occur to athletes and the athletically active. Certified athletic trainers are recognized by the American Medical Association as allied health care providers. Through an advanced educational background, athletic trainers are able to provide the professional care, early evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries, and proper medical referral. Athletic trainers provide quality health care, and educate athletes in prevention of injuries.

The certified athletic trainer specializes in five domains. These domains have been identified as those necessary to function effectively as a certified athletic trainer.

1. Prevention of athletic injuries
2. Recognition, evaluation and immediate care of athletic injuries.
3. Rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries
4. Health care administration
5. Professional development and responsibility
